Bar Nunn has one of the best origin stories in Wyoming. It sits about six miles north of Casper, and it is built on the site of Wardwell Field, Casper's original airport. A rancher named Romie Nunn bought the airport land in 1954 and began subdividing it, the town took his name and incorporated in 1982, and the old runways still form the framework of its streets. The town's own logo traces the original runway layout.
